The plans are underway for the NRECA 2012 Rural Electric Youth Tour to Washington, D.C. The dates for the tour are June 16th-22nd, 2012.
The topic for this year is: "Without electricity, how would your day-to-day life be different?"
The student must be a junior or senior in high school in the fall of 2011.
- The student and/or parent or guardian must be served by Sun River Electric.
- Essay must include a cover page with the student’s name, address, telephone number and the name of the rural electric cooperative.
- Submit the essay to Sun River Electric by Monday December 12, 2012.

FAIRFIELD STUDENT WINS THE 2011 WASHINGTON YOUTH TOUR ESSAY CONTEST
Harleigh Vincent, a senior at Fairfield High School, is the winner of the 2011 Washington Youth Tour Essay Contest. Harleigh is involved in FCCLA, Art Club, Pep Club, Student Council, Speech & Drama, and Cheerleading. She likes riding horses, reading, and going to concerts. Harleigh is the daughter of Russ Vincent and Gina Vincent.
Harleigh will be traveling to Washington D.C. with 28 other essay winners from 21 Montana Cooperatives, June 11-17, 2011. The tour will include visits to our nation's capital, memorials, monuments, and museums. They will have the opportunity to tour the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association headquarters and the Rural Electrification Administration. Students will meet the Montana Congressional Delegation, plus take an active role in learning about cooperatives and our national government. Congratulations Harleigh!
